We all can define terms like “diversity” and “disability,” right? Or can we? This session will engage participants in diving deeper into how the language and labels we use impact relationships and identity. Strategies for building shared, respectful communication in our partnerships, despite our own biases, will be shared.

Dr. Acar is an assistant professor at the University of Massachusetts Boston. Her research includes culturally and linguistically responsive assessment practices in early intervention/early childhood special education.
